Is solar less expensive than electricity?

Sunlight is free so once you have a solar system it will cost less than using electricity. However the initial costs of adding solar to your home means it will be a while before you recoup the costs of installing a solar system. It is best to discuss your options and possible costs with a professional solar technician but you need to be comfortable with recovering your costs over time.

Having said that, sunlight is a natural, clean energy and renewable for m of energy. Much of New Zealand has sun light most of the year, so solar can be a good option – and the more you use it the more quickly it will pay for itself. Solar systems do need maintenance and eventually replacement but because they have few moving parts making heavy use of them wont shorten their life span. Doing as much energy heavy work during the day will make the best use of your solar power. Call us to find out more
